Driving license inspection (Netherlands: CBR inspection)

It is possible that the CBR (Netherlands) wants you to have a medical examination by an ophthalmologist. Stolmed Eye Clinics performs eye checks for this examination. Such an examination may not be reimbursed by your insurer.

Preparation

Take with you to your appointment

We request that you bring the following to your appointment:

  • A valid ID.
  • Forms from the CBR Netherlands that the ophthalmologist must fill in.
  • Cash or debit card

Driving and guidance after your appointment

We advise you not to drive your own car after your visit to the ophthalmologist. The eye drops may temporarily reduce your vision. This can last for two to four hours. If you come by public transport or taxi, take someone with you who can accompany you.

Costs

A driving license assessment for the Netherlands can be done in two different ways, namely digitally or by post.

The cost of this medical (ophthalmological) examination is 150,- 45 euros and (including VAT), then your data will be sent digitally. The cost of the examination is 125 euros (including VAT) if you can also get a paper report that you then send in by post yourself.

Other EU countries may have different requirements. Depending on this, the ophthalmologist will provide you with a price quote in advance.
